had sharp pains in my left arm last night. woke up today and theres a dull pain

Since you have sudden onset of sharp pains in left arm it appears to have neurologic cause like just a mild pressure on the nerve and over a period of time it gets better thats why you are having a dull pain later.You can take mild analgesics if pain is distressing.
