What Is The Cause Of Swollen Ankles After Taking Penicillin For Strep Throat?

My 23 year old daughter just finished Penicillin for nasty Strep Throat and has now developed swollen ankles after backpacking around Europe for a week. She thinks the exhaustion and ankle edema are from all the walking, I'm worried. Please advise :-/
