Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Evertime after i eat at night i puke so i try to lay down and every five minutes or so i have to get up and puke what does that mean? And after all that i can't eat or drink anything or i'll puke that back up too. Like last night after i layed down and was feeling a little better i drank a little water and puked that up too. But in the mornings I'm fine just at night i puke. Why do i do that?
I can understand your concern for GI related symptoms.
1) Vomiting after meals, in lying position is associated with hiatus hernia or reflux.
2) In this condition, upper part of stomach move into chest from abdomen due to loose opening in diaphragm from where esophagus enters into stomach. This also cause weakening of lower part of esophagus and allowing stomach content to move into esophagus which is known as GERD.
3) Upper GI endoscopy is must to diagnosis either of this condition.
4) You should take syrup antacid for quick relief from acidity related pain, medication for acidity, antimotility medication to prevent vomiting. Also you should take care to avoid drinking along with meals, not to lie down immediately after food intake.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a good day!
