Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a what seems like a clear mucus coming out of my rectum when I have bowel movemts. It doesn t happen often, there is no blood, pain, and I dont have any current health complications at the moment (to the best of my knowledge and according to my last physical checkup) or any allergies. My previous bowel movement looked normal. This usually happens maybe once a week. I normally don t eat fast food, maybe once every 3-4 weeks, but I did eat a double cheeseburger with a medium French fries yesterday. I am wondering if it may be diet related. Also if there are any ways to help prevent, unless this discharge is normal.
Hello. Mucus is a normal secretion by the cells of the colon. It does not suggest the presence of a disease and is not a cause for worry. Regards Dr Samir Patil
