What Is The Cure For Loose Motion, Cough And Fever Of A 4 Month Baby?

my son 4 monts baby , he is having loose motions today 6 times,

he is having caugh and 2 days back had fever, now no fever and little bit caugh, but he is having loose motions,

please suggest urgently..

Hi

It looks like a viral episode which is going on.

For viral diarrhea, no specific treatment needs to be given.
Just take care of his hydration. He must drink well and pass urine atleast 4 to 5 times in a day
-If he is on breast feeds, continue with breast milk. Feed him frequently.
- Avoid formula milk.
- You may give him ORS (Pedialyte) in few sips frequently.
- You may also give probiotics like Econorm/ Bifilac sachets 1/2 sachet twice a day for five days.

If he is not drinking well/ he is dull and lethargic/ he is irritable/ he develops high grade fever/ you see blood in the stools/ urine frequency is less than 4 to 5 times in a day, then you must not hesitate to see your doctor immediately.

For the cough, if its not too much, you can leave it. If its too distressing and associated with fast breathing etc, its better to have his chest examined before giving any cough formulations.
