Hi

Dietary modification is the most important step in management of constipation.

His diet should include plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, Juices, soups etc.
Fluids especially water should be given in plenty.
Give him whole grain food.

Try to avoid excess milk, junk food and refined food.
Banana, rice based items, potatoes etc should be limited.

If after dietary modifications too, constipation persists, please get him examined by a doctor.
Bleeding indicates that he has a fissure in the anal region. It is very painful and so the child holds the stool in fear of pain. In such a case he needs to be put on stool softeners along with ointment to be applied in the anal region for a period of 3 to 4 weeks atleast. Else a vicious cycle will be set.
Wish your son good health.
