I recently had surgery for Morton s Neuroma, and to repair a hammer toe on both feet, with each foot being a separate procedure. The recovery for each surgery has been very different. Why would this be? With the first surgery I had very little swelling and I was up walking around with a special boot within a couple of days. Now I am recovering from my second identical surgery that I had 11 days ago, and the swelling is much worse. I kept my foot elevated and iced 24/7 with bathroom break exceptions for the first 4-5 days. I still have a lot of sporatic pain penetrating from the center of my toe, and the bandages on my foot get uncomfortable from the swelling. Also, I have been very careful about wearing proper footwear that is not too tight since I had bunion surgery on both feet about 8 years ago. Is there anything else that can cause Morton s Neuroma , and hammer toes?
