What Is The Diet To Be Followed After The Appendicitis?

My husband had a rupertured appendix with surgery,came home last sunday,developed an ileus ,brought back in.They put and NG tube down and came home Thursday afternoon.Now having loose stools and lots of gas and I wondered besides broth,jello,how does he advance his diet so this doesn t happen

You may want to consider the use of a probiotics along with a liquid diet for now.

The probiotics would help to restore the normal bacteria to the colon and would assist in returning normal bowel function. They can be found on their own or in foods such as yogurt.

You can use light soups for now. If he is able to tolerate this for 24 hours then you can move on to dry foods.
