What Is The Difference Between Lorazepan And Benzodiazepine?

thank you. Please tell me the difference between Lorazepan (Ativan) & Benzodiazepine , (Valium) which I ve been prescribed both along with the long term use of XANAX. I am trying to get off the xanax due to sceasures sp? in a Urine analysis can Ativan and Valium be found as different substances or are they in the same family. taken in very small doses.....??? Thank You.

Lorazepam(ativan) and Diazepam(valium) are two different drugs belonging to the same family BENZODIAZEPINES.

They are found as two different substances on urine analysis.

Diazepam is a long acting drug and Lorazepam is an intermediate to short acting drug.

Hence their excretion rates in urine differ varyingly.

They can be detected in urine even in small dose.
