What Is The Difference Between Piriton And Piriteze?

I live in California. Recently asked my friend to bring me back some Piriton from England. I like it because it is mild and can be taken every 4 hours if necessary. Instead she brought me back Piriteze. It looks as though it is much stronger. What should I do? I am EXTREMELY sensitive to all meds.

Hi,

Piriton is more sedating than Piriteze. Both are antihistamines. However, Piriton (chlorphenamine maleate) is more sedating and thus it is known to cause dizziness, drowsiness (sleepiness), blurred vision, dry mouth and difficulty concentrating.

Piriteze (Cetirizine) is less sedating and hence the side effects are less as compared to Piriton. Piriteze may be taken once daily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
