What Is The Difference Between Hydrocodone And Oxycodone? Worried About Addiction

Thankyou. What is the difference between hydrocodone and oxycodone, also 10 and 5 mg/ 325mg? Should I worry about becoming dependent while I'm taking these medications for some recent severe nerve and back issues. My pain is lessening and I start physical therapy this week and I am concerned for future pain. Anything over the counter that brings moderate to real relief.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is natural to be worried about the possibility of dependence.
Hydrocodone is a semi synthetic opioid that is made from codeine. It is used for pain relief and to reduce coughing.

oxycodone is also a semi synthetic opioid that is used for moderate and severe pain.

Oxycodone is associated with greater potential for abuse than hydrocodone. For this reason a person can fill hydrocodone with refill prescriptions but not oxycodone.

If your pain is improving you may not need to use the medications much longer.

I hope this helps
