What Is The Dosage For Effexor XR And Can It Be Taken With Abilify?
What is the maximum dose that can be taken of Effexor XR. Currently I am taking 300 Mg and have been on it for approximately 2 months. It has worked for years and I am wondering if more can be taken safely. Also, should I choose to add a different drug what would you recommend? I have tried Abilify and could not tolerate the side effects. Thanks sincerely, Merle
Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare Magic. Actually, the recommended maximum dose of Effexor XR is 225 mg/day but some patients might need a higher dose (up to 375 mg/day) before responding well. if you have been responding well to this treatment, then I do not think you should be thinking about adding another drug or changing it. Stopping Effexor abruptly can lead to side effects (withdrawal syndrome). I would suggest you see your doctor who will determine whether there is still the need to continue the treatment or not.
I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you. I wish you good health
