Hi, Daphne contains Lynestrenol, a synthetic analogue of the natural hormone secreting in the body called Progesterone. It is the hormone of the luteal phase and controls the later half of the regular menstrual cycle. Menstrual cycle has two phases namely the follicular phase and luteal phase. Estrogen is the main hormone of follicular phase. Ovulation is the end of follicular phase and start of luteal phase. The fall in level of Progesterone results in shedding of uterine endometrium which is developed to accommodate the fertilized egg. Progesterone is the natural hormone that has several actions in the female reproductive system such controlling the endometrial development, cervical mucus viscosity changes and also ovulation. For contraception, it should be taken daily without fail for more than two days. For inducing menstruation, it should be taken and stopped after three days.
