What Is The Dosage Of Intuniv?

MY 5 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER HAS DIAGNOSED WITH ADAHA ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO. SHE IS TAKING 1MG OF INTUNIV AT NIGHT ALONE WITH 1 MG OF MELATONIN. AT SCHOOL ABOUT 11:30 12NOON SHE HAVE MELT DOWNS CRYING, THROWING OVER CHAIRS OR ANYTING IN HER WAY. DO YOU THINK SHE NEED TAKE THE MEDICATION TWICE ADAY. THANKS

Hello. Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor". I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think this preschooler is fortunate to have a caring grandmother.
I have concern about her diagnosis. Although you have told only a small amount about her behavior, crying and throwing objects are not typical of ADHD.
Your granddaughter may be having temper tantrums instead. If she does, it is very important that you don't teach her that her behavior can be controlled by force.
A clinical psychologist can teach you how to change her behavior in a parent or grandparent coaching program as well as confirm that she is having temper tantrums.
