What Is The Dosage Of Triamterene? How Does It Affect The Kidneys?

my doctor told me to stop taking my triamterene 37.5 MG / HCTZ 25MG CAPS everyday, he said," just take them now and then," I don't know what he means by that, I consulted my pharmacy, he said, I should take it every day for my
high blood pressure. Confused, My doctor said that it was doing something to my kidneys?

Hi and thanks for the query,
This is a drug used in managing high blood pressure. A clinical review is however mandatory to guide its usage. If a kidney function test has been done and you have an altered kidney function, it could cause kidney damage. How ever if otherwise, you can take the drug. Your clinical history and medical history should have prompted the doctor to stop the drug. Kind regards
