What Is The Dosage Of Paracetamol For A Nine Months Baby Suffering From High Temperature?

i have a nine months old baby and he has high temperature, 39-39.5 degree celcius. i have given him paracetamol but it seems that temperature is still the same.My son is about 9 kg of weight and and i have given him 80 mg of paracetamol. One hour has passed and the situation is the same. I don't know for how long can i wait for the next dosage and how mush of paracetamol 120mg/5ml i should give. Please give me a quick answer.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.
If a nine month old is having such high grade fever I suggest you to take him to the doctor. There could be various causes for that fever and your infant should be examined for that. Your doctor may order certain investigations like blood counts, CRP, etc if required.
We prescribe paracetamol in the dosage of 15mg/kg per dose to our patients. We advise them to keep a gap of at least 4 hours between each dose. We advise them not to give more than 4 doses per day.
