What Is The Effect Of Sperm Count In Semen Analysis?

Dear Doctor,



My husband just took sperm test and has the result as below.

Age of Sample : 1 (ref.
Abstinence : 2 (ref. 2-7 days)

Volume : 4.2 (ref. >=2.0 ml)

pH : 7.9 (ref. 7.2 - 8.0)

Viscosity : Normal

Count : 2 (ref. >=20 mil/ML)

Due to Count is to low, Motility Rapid, Motility Sluggish, Motility Non-progressive, Motility Immotile, Total Progressive Motility, Normal Morphology and Agglutination cannot be acessed.

Round cells : 0.3 (ref.


As per Laboratory comments: Due to low sperm count, morphology cannot be correctly assessed. Few motile and immotile spermatozoa seen.



Can you help me with explanation? Since we don't know what happened with this result.

As an Urologist,i can fully understand your anxiety.
No sperms are seen in the semen test.
This is called Azoospermia. It will need certain tests,to idfentify it's cause.
Male hormones like FSH,LH,PRL,testosterone,and other tests will be needed.
An Urologist's examination is needed, first of all.
After this,a scrotal doppler ultrasound scan is needed.
According to the reports, further treatment can be advised.
