Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Fluid And Jelly Like Substance Found In My Father S Body Cavity?
my dad recently had bladder kneck incision and has been re-admitted with suspected ruptured appendix, however after going to theatre they only found an accumillation of fluid in the abdominal cavity and a jelly like substance on the greater omentum but have no idea what this could be the have sent the fluid to the lab for testing. I am automatically thinking the worst case scenario any ideas?
As per my surgical experience, the issue of jelly substance at the greater omentum is the most likely inflammatory reaction to adjacent bowel loop inflammation or infection.
However, if you can provide me slices of CT scan which may be performed prior to surgery, then better delineation of the issue can be surely done.
Keeping in view the recent bladder neck incision, it can be the incidental finding or iatrogenic injury to the bladder wall (which is very rare).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
