What Is The Good Target Weight For Me?

Hi, I am 65 and getting back into working out, walking (hopefully into jogging) free weights and floor exercises. I am prediabetic, HBP and High Cholesterol. I am 5 1 and weight 211. What would be a good target weight for me? I will be seeing my GP early July. On Everyday Health they give me a weight from 101 - 127. What is a good target area for me?? Thanks

Hello,
This is Dr. Klarida Papaqako answering your question.

It's great that you have decided to do more physical activity, and controlling your weight, because it is very important for your health.
Losing weight may not only make you feel better with yourself, but also help you with High blood pressure medicines, lower the levels of cholesterol and keep you in the prediabetic levels as much as its possible.

Though, loosing weight fast and not in a healthy way may cause damage by itself.
If I was your caring doctor, I would recommend:
-- Keep a healthy diet, with substituting gradually fat ans sugary foods with lots of fluids, fibers, fruits and vegetables. The secret is not removing food, but substituting with a filling one but less caloric.
-- Start doing jogging and other aerobic activity with at least 20 minutes/day for 5 days a week, and increasing the time gradually.
-- Your target is between 101-127, but you will have to reach those values very, very gradually in 1-2 years time. Patience and determination will be needed.

Hope information helps,
Take care.
