What Is The Incubation Period For An E. Coli Infection?

I recently had E coli and sepsis, but had absolutely no symptom. How can that be? How long between ingesting something that causes it, and the time you have symptoms? I am trying to figure out how I got it so that I can avoid having it again. One doctor told me that citrus and potassium will help. Is there anything else you can suggest?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The incubation period of EColi is 3-4 days and it may vary from 2-5 days. Please stool sample examination is done and treated accordingly. Avoid out side food. Use high fiber diet and green leafy vegetables. Consult your physician he will examine and treat with appropriate medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, the usual incubation period of E.coli ranges from 3-4 days ( in certain cases it may be from 1 - 10 days ) after exposure.

* Citrus and potassium may help with body immune response to fight against the same to some extent.

* I suggest to maintain hydration, dietary care and hand hygiene for further prevention of the same infection.

Hope I have answered your query.
