Hello,

A swollen knee occurs when excess fluid accumulates in or around your knee joint.

The causes are many.

An ultrasound of the knee is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.

I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

I also suggest using cold compresses in the area of the accumulated fluid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi, General &Family Physician
