What Is The Life Expectancy If Breast Cancer Is In Remission Stage?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My Mother has Stage IV Mestastic Breast Cancer. Had a Pet Scan and her Dr. says she is in remission. Previously told she had less than a year at best. Now that she is in remission, will she have longer? Many thanks.

Hello dear. Remission is a good sign and her chances of prolong survival are good. However survival will depend upon other factors like her fitness and receptor status of the tumor(ER, PR, HER). You may expect a survival of 2 to 5 years from here onwards.
