What Is The Life Expectancy In An Elderly Person With Blocked Aorta?

My mother who os 83 was told by her doctor Friday that she has a blocked aorta that can t be fixed with surgery. Said she would not make it of the operating table. She has a lot of health problems. He talked to us about a living will and said he wanted to get that in her folder soon. She had two MRIs a week apart. I was so upset I did not ask about a time line. In simple terms what should I be watching for? How long would you guess?

hello,
I understand aorta block as aortic stenosis, is what you are reffering to here.
If she is having a problems of breathlessness on minor walking, anginal pain, or syncopal attacks it indicates a severe aortic stenosis, in which survival rate is around 3 years, if not operated. However, presence of other co morbid condition can adversely affect the expectancy here. Obviously, the choice of sugary at her age should be weighd against the risk involved.

thank you.
