What Is The Lump On The Base Of My Son's Skull?

My son age 7 has a lump on the base of his skull behind his ear the size of a marble. He says it is sore to touch, and I have notice one coming up at the other side too, although it is smaller. He seems healthy, but has been tired recently. Should I take him to the doctor?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

This lump in this region could be a reactive lymph node related to a pharingitis or inner ear infection.

For this reason, I recommend consulting with his pediatrician for a careful physical exam and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, sedimentation rate).

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Best wishes, Dr. Aida
