What Is The Medication For Low Thyroid?

My husbands face is flushed and feels like it is burning, he is tired all the time, has gained weight, he had blood work done, the Dr said his thyroid was low but not enough to start him on meds, the dr recently started him on depression meds, also is cold all the time!

Your husband might have subclinical hypothyroid so treatment not started . ...

He has cold intolerance and weight gain complaint suggestive towards hypothyroid.

For giving more comment thyroid report needed. ..esp ..
1.TSH level
2.T4 ( free )

If TSH elevated and t4 low than levothyroxine should be started . .
Dose starts from 25 ug to 150 ug. ..
Depending on TSH level dose adjusted ..

Than regular monitoring of TSH level than done and accordingly maintainance dose needed ...
