What Is The Prognosis For Staph Aureus Infection In A Dialysis Patient?

My dad caught a virus in his bloodstream staph aureus which is being treated with antibiotics, however he is a dialysis patient for 9 consecutive years with 2 kidney transplants in 20 years. His heart condition is weak functioning at 10 percent, what are his chances of survival and if not much how long does he have.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Stap aureus bacterial infection can have varied severity from mild to severe.

The presence of reduced kidney and heart function would significantly affect his ability to respond appropriately to treatment but it is possible that he may recover.

Unfortunately no doctor can absolutely accurately predict how long any patient would live but his doctors with daily knowledge of his blood tests and examination findings would be in a better position to determine his prognosis.

I hope this helps
