What Is The Prognosis For Milk Induced Anemia?

My grandson was diagnosed with Milk Induced Anemia at 13.5 months of age. He had been breastfed for the first 11 months and then was introduced gradually to whole cows milk. He received 3 blood transfusions to bring his numbers up when this was diagnosed and is now on a milk-free diet, drinking Neo-Cate and taking an iron supplement. What is the prognosis for this problem?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Infants on cow's milk are more prone to develop iron deficiency anemia due to high calcium content in the milk.
Calcium competes with Iron for absorption.
With iron supplimentation the prognosis is very good.
Follow your doctor's advice.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
