What Is The Reason For Dizziness In A 86 Year Old Lady?
Doctor, my mom is 86. She has been experiencing this problem for the last two to three years. But now it has become worse and she wants to lie down most of the time. She says it is like a bag of sand is kept on the top of her head in between the forehead and the centre, and followed by dizziness. Neurologist has done series of tests on her including MRI etc., etc. They say they have done whatever research they could, and can't find anything. She is taking medications for high BP and cholestrol. Both are under control. Can you help ? Thank you.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Do check if the dizziness varies with posture. Postural hypotension is commonly known to occur at this age. 2. Positional variation and blood pressure evaluation can confirm the diagnosis. 3. Occasionally migraineheadaches are known to cause dizziness. She will require painkillers to control migraine. Possibly headache causing dizziness. 4. Check anemia and thyroid hormone levels to rule out any systemic causes. More details necessary for further opinion. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
