What Is The Reason For Patches Of White Hair?

my grandson was born with two patches of white hair we was told that it could have been caused by the medication given to my daughter at the time of delivery we have not seen any other growth problems or skin problems with him. He is now 6 years old and we just think it s cute that on the to and back of his head he has patches of white hair but someone recently (not a physician) said it could be another problem. should we be concerned ?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Thanks for the query.
Poliosis is the name given when someone has a small patch of white hair.
This simply means there is no pigment in the hair involed.
Waardenburg's syndrome (associated with hearing problem) , Marfan's syndrome(abnormal height) are some genetic disorders where this condition is noticed.
You have to rule out this.
For further clarification kindly come again with detailed history.
Hope i helped you.
