What Is The Reason For Stomach Pain, Symptoms Of Depression, Dry Throat And Fatique?

Hello. I'm a 20 year old male currently attending college. On and off stomach pains for the past month or so. Started hurting after drinking. This happened a few times when I drank, and then on Thanksgiving it hurt when I had a glass of wine. I haven't had a sip of alcohol since Thanksgiving. Still having stomach problems. Lately my lower back has been aching as well. I have also experienced symptoms of depression and have been very stressed lately due to the semester coming to an end at college. I also have a cough, a dry throat, and feel fatigued often.

Hello
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
I would come up with these possibilities for such type of symptoms , these includes.
1 The first possibility is of peptic ulcer disease or hiatus hernia . Diagnosis cna be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy.
Try raising the head of your bed about 4 inches with blocks. It might also help to avoid drinking or eating for 2 hours before you lie down.To help control stomach acid one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods. Also take some antacid but if symptoms are severe then you may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors.
2 The 2nd possibility may be pancreatitis as you are complaining that pain is radiating to the back also.
Diagnosis can be confirmed by estimation of pancreatic enzyme as lipase & serum amylase.
3 As you mentioned that you are having depression , so this is the most important cause of acute as well chronic gastritis ( hyper acidity ) , so either try to avoid or get in treatment for depression from a psychiatrist.
I hope all these information will be helpful for you.
Deal as mentioned above.
Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that you might be having gastritis. This may result in pain in abdomen.
Severe gastritis can result in ulcers, which can cause pain after meals.

I would like to advise you that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated.
Endoscopy will be helpful in your case.

You may take antacid like Omeprazole 40mg along with Domperidone 30mg once a day before meals. Antacid in gel or liquid form will also be helpful.

Following precautions will be helpful :-
1. Avoid spicy and oily foods.
2. Avoid alcohol and smoking, if any.
3. Avoid being empty stomach for long periods.
4. Avoid emotional and mental stress.
5. Yoga and meditation will be helpful.
6. Drink lots of water daily.

You should have a positive attitude towards life. This will help you in relieving your symptoms of stress.

If the symptoms persists, get consultation from a Gastroenterologist.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
