What Is The Recovery Time Of A Lateral Release For A Person Having Chondromalacia?

I had a lateral release almost 8 weeks ago I'm still having pain in my knee with lots of popping sounds when I move my leg. I'm very unstable when I walk seems like I'm going to fall over on my face. My knee gets numb after I stand for 20 minutes and it's hard for me to stand up. I have chondromalacia, what's the recovery time for a lateral release.
