Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Respected sir I am a serving army personnel and i have a 11 yr old knee injury which has destablised my life. The history of injury is as under :-
1.RTA in the year 2000with sustained CLW and minor trauma to the right side of patella.I had some instability in the knee and it would give way. 2.Orthroscopy was conducted in 2001 at PGIMS,Rohtak in 2001 with possible debridement(i dont have any papers of either RTA or Orthroscpy in 2001). 3. Joined IMA for Army training in JUL 2003 which involves rigrous and strenous physical training.Even before i joined my training i had swelling in my knee and during the training i used to have recurrent swelling in my knee and had Hemarthrosis (associated with intense pain and inability to even move the knee) twice in 2003 and blood had to be aspirated thereafter. 4.The same Hemarthrosis happened in Jan 2006 and repeat Orthroscopy was conducted (no biopsy conucted) in Feb 2006 with diagnosis as under:- (a). intact ACL/lateral medial meniscus (b). Early Chondromalacia medial side of patella with lateral femoral condyle. (c). Synovial hypertrophy and pigmentation. 5.I get swelling even on trivial trauma or excess walking.Since 2006 i have stopped running/playing games. Hemarthrosis happened again in sep 2007 ; blood aspirated. 6. Heamarthrosis happened 0n 30 Oct 2010 ; blood aspirated twice. I was able to walk and do my routine activities again. Repeat orthroscopy conducted on 09 Dec 2010(By DR Prateek Gupta at SGRH,Delhi) with debridement.Biopsy results indicated PVNS (Biopsy reports att as pic 7& 8).The doctors told that there is no possible cure for it. Only SYNOVECTOMY (Radioactive/Orthroscopic) is the possible treatment. 7. Now after 15 weeks of orthroscopy even now there is mild swelling in my knee. 8. Can u plz suggest me what is future of my knee joint???Bcoz during Orthroscopy in 2006 the doc told me that my knee will not work for more than 5-10 years. 9. In a span of 10 yrs i three times ORTHOSCOPY has been conducted on my knee. And the Quadriceps muscles are quite weak of the affected leg though i am taking Q ex regularly.
Thanks so much in anticipation. With warm regards..... Maj Sachin Narwal.
