What Is The Remedy For Shingles?

Sir, I am 57 years of age, I had chicken pox at age 7. Now I am having shingles to my left arm and a few spots on my left upper back. Now it is 8 days since I have had it and the blisters have subsided and blackened. The redness is gone. I had taken Zovirax 800mg 5 times a day for three days. Now can I take non vegetarian food, or should I wait for one more week?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Chicken pox and shingles are caused by common virus.
When infected by chicken pox, the virus lodges itself in the nerve root ganglia.
This virus becomes active later on especially when there is depression of immunity due to any cause.
The suppression of immunity can be due to stress, old age, infection, chronic infection etc.
The episodes of shingles are managed by antiviral drug therapy which has been prescribed to you and pain killers.
besides the immunity should be boosted by taking good diet rich in proteins and supplements.

Thanks and take care
