What Is The Remedy For The Esophageal Pain And Acid Reflux With Burping?
47 year old male . Pain in the esophageal junction area after eating. Regular acid reflux and burping. Occasional stomach distention after eating certain foods. Tried 3 14-day courses of Prilosec OTC over the past year. Still no relief. Stomach pain triggers headaches and/or headaches trigger acid production. No known allergies. No upper or lower GI tests performed. What foods should I continue/avoid? What might my next step be? Father died of esophageal cancer.
Noted the history of a 47 year old male having pain in the esophageal junction area after eating, regular acid reflux, burping, occasional stomach distension after eating certain foods. You tried Prilosec but there was no relief. Pain triggers headache, no endoscopy, father died of esophageal cancer, wants to know which food to continue or avoid and further step.
The first and the foremost step is to go for upper GI Endoscopy so that the exact cause can be known and treated. PPI, antacid every three hours along with a prokinetic like Domperidone should be taken. Other examination and evaluation to be done for further clinical evaluation. Take soft bland diet. Control anxiety and stress. Avoid all the foods that cause such a problem.
