Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my kid (8 years) is diagnosed with a typhoid fever. The report (widal test) confirms salmonella o and Salmonella H and she is given cephalosporin (200mg) for 5 days. After continuing antibiotics for 3 days, still the fever has not subsided. what can we do?
As she is a confirmed case of enteric fever and she has not responded to cephalosporins she will require next higher antibiotic quinolones.
If she is clinically stable and able to take orally well she can be treated at home. Else better to get her admitted and preferentially intra venous route of ofloxacin is recommended.
