What Is The Right Medicament For A Painful Throat Infection?

My daughter who is 7 years old is having severe pain in her throat and is also running a temperature of 100 C. It appears to be a throat infection since I cannot see any tonsils patch. I get her to do the salt water gargle 2 times a day and am also giving her paracetamol. Is any other medicine required to relieve the throat infection ?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. Throat infections can be caused by viruses or bacteria. Viruses will resolve on their own after about 7-10 days. Comforting your child in the manner that you have been is all we can do. The bacterial infections, however, require antibiotics to resolve. I recommend consulting with your doctor so the correct diagnosis can be made and the appropriate treatment implemented.
