What Is The Sharp Shooting Pain On The Inside Of My Knee?

I had a closing wedge osteoectomy 3 months ago. I was recently allowed to put full weight on that foot. I woke up one morning with a sharp shooting pain on the inside of my knee on that leg. Every time I cough it sends a very sharp intense pain down my knee What can be going on?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a neuropathic pain.

As of now you can take drugs like gabapentin which is quite effective for similar pain conditions.

If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
