What Is The Suggestion For Swelling And Pain On Leg After Hitting With A Base Ball?
My son is a baseball pitcher. He pitched the ball, the batter got a solid hit on the ball and it came directly at my son and hit him on the leg right below knee cap. This happened a week ago yesterday. No bruising or discoloration but is still swelling, can hardly stand for his pants to touch it. Unsure what to do?
Dear Sir, I understand your concern. By the mechanism of injury that you have described it does not appear to be a fracture but still a precautionary xray will help. The swelling around the knee usually settles with rest, ice compression, limb elevation and anti inflammatory drugs. If your son is straining your knee by bearing weight on that I would suggest that he follows non weight bearing gait with the help of a walker or a crutch til the swelling settles down. I hope this info was useful.
