What Is The Treatment For L-5 Partial Fracture?

what is the treatment for L-5 partial fracture.

I had a fall and there is partial compression collapse fracture in L-5. I am using a taylor brace. The doctor advised complete bed rest for 6 weeks. Can I stand or sit while bearing taylor brace. Is it required to bear while sleeping. I will upload the report later as I do not have it with me.I will come back with the report and would like to get an answer from spine specialist.

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would agree with your doctor advice to hold a taylor brace and have bed rest.

Unfortunately, there is not to much to be done. You should just be patient and wait.

It is better avoid prolonged standing up or sitting position, because these positions impose a high weight and pressure to the spine of this level (which is important for the balance).

I would recommend holding the brace even at night and take it off only for short periods. This will help maintain the stability of the spinal column.

Hope to have been helpful!
Best wishes, Dr. Aida
