Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,
I have a 60 yrs young sister who has had carpul tunnel surgery on both hands and just got back from the doctor today 11-9-11 as the doctor told her she had crippling arthritis and that it was too far gone. My question is if it can't be cured, at least can't it be treated so she won't have to live in pain the rest of her life?
You have to understand that arthritis is age related disease and it does not have any permanent cure Once cartilage is damaged then it can not be replaced so I would like to suggest you to try these measures. 1. Avoid heavy work. 2.Take calcium and vitamin D 3 regularly 3. Voletran ointment 4.There is role of steroid injection 5. Hot water fomentation
