What Is The Treatment For Chin Twitches?

I had maxofacial surgery 24 years ago that left me with a numb chin and lower lip.
the surgeon said this happens and there is nothing they can do back then. Now in the past year I am having chin twitches and it is very annoying and embarrassing. what can I do and could something else be wrong?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Your symptoms seem to be related to a pinched nerve (nerve compression), probably from the adherence during surgery in this region.
I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a careful physical exam. A nerve conduction study is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.
Surgery may be needed.
In the meantime, I recommend taking clonazepam for symptomatic relief.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
