Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I just went to use the bathroom, and I was unable to pass poop. It felt like I was trying to pass a rock. I do not have a history of constipation, I am usually fairly active, and I eat relatively healthily. However, last night, I did have quite a few brownies. I was wondering what may be the reason for my hard poo, and what I may do to pass it without straining myself or pain.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of constipation which occurs mainly due to eating a lot of dairy products, irritable bowel syndrome, some medications like antidepressants, acidity and lack of fibres in diet. Need not to worry. For now drink lot of water , do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals. You can start with the course of osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe fiber supplement. You should take plenty of fluids and take diet rich in green leafy vegetables.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
