What Is The Treatment For Cystic Changes Of Hip Cartilage?

Hi I had an MRI of my hip and my doctor told me there is cystic changes of cartilage of the hip and there was nothing she could do for me except consult an orthapic. I just want to no what this hip cartilage is and if there is anything else I could do

Hello,

Cystic change at covering of head of femur is one of the degenerative change which occurs with advance of age. If cysts are present at head of femur then it can be due to:
- Trauma
- Avascular necrosis
- Arthritis

At present you should decrease your weight if your overweight.There are some supplements for arthritis which you can use to halt the progress of arthritis. There are some other supplements like glucosamine, chondroitin and collagen supplement which can help in repairing the changes of arthritis. You should have consultation with your orthopedic doctor so that your diagnosis can be confirmed.
