I was operated for thyroid 10 yrs back and since then taking thyroxine, recently my doc asked me to take thyronorm 88 mcg. My concern is just a week before I have observed some hairs on my chin and cheeks, is it related with hypothyroidism. what do i need to do to prevent this hair growth.
It can be related but indirectly, the body monitors level of thyroid hormones, once low it secretes stimulating hormones to make have more thyroid hormones, those stimulating hormones can be accompanied by sex hormones stimulating hormones which can lead to facial hair growth. With age hormonal changes occur too and can lead to facial hair. So refer to your doctor to check on LH/FSH levels and based on results treatment can be prescribed.
