What Is The Treatment For Infection In The Mastoid?

My daugther had a MRI done on the mastoid area. It showed their is an infection in the mastoid and the ENT is refusing to treat her for it. Also the ENT which by the way is a PA told me she thinks the test was unnessary. All the things i have seen online says she needs to be admitted to the hospital with ivs to get rid of it. and possibly surgery. Is this true or is there other ways to get rid of it.

Hello,

Your daughter is suffering from infection on the mastoid area, she has had MRI done. Her ENT is refusing to treat her. You have not mentioned the age of your daughter. Treatment in children may be different than in adults. You are suggested to get connected to an ENT, who is also an expert in treating Mastoiditis. You will have your daughter to go through a few more tests and investigations.

It is given conservative treatment if the infection has not affected the bones. Early treatment should be given to avoid complications. Surgery may be recommended if the infection has spread to the bone. Do not waste time, get your daughter re-examined by an ENT, who is an expert in treating mastoiditis. Get repeat tests ,imaging tests and investigations done to confirm mastoiditis and the extent of spread so that it can be treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
