Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m having extreme pain in my knees..I have had menicus tears and had surgery 4 yrs ago. I stopped taking cortisone injec 1 yr ago... I wonder if I should strt them again. My Ortopedic. said I was developing arthritis from MRI done and may require knee replacment by the time I m 60? I am 58..what do you feel I need to do? Thank you Mary
To treat the meniscus tear I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I also suggest to ice the knee and elevate it. I also suggest to compress or wrap the knee in an elastic bandage to reduce inflammation. If the symptoms continue, I suggest to consult your orthopedist for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
