What Is The Treatment For Lower Back Pain?

I've had occasional crooked back with pain in lower back for years. Starts with minor twinge. Muscles spasm. Much pain. I am then stand crooked. Rest and muscle relaxers, cyclobenzaprene, chiropractors, all contribute to the healing processs...3-5 days. Then I am fine and can run distances. Looking for preventative exercizes. I know swimming helps. What else do you recommend. Xrays came up negative a year ago.
