Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, for a few months I have suffered, with lower back pain to my right hand side, around where the spine meets the pelvis. This also spreads to my lower stomach again right habd side. I am 177, around 14 1/4 stone, and earlier in the year had a torn ligament in my back.
Hello As per your description of the clinical symptoms it seems that you have a pathology in the spine. The reason for this can be either the trauma that you suffered earlier or due to any recent pathology that compresses the spinal nerve roots. If I were your treating doctor I would have suggested you a treatment protocol as follows- 1.X-RAY of the dorso-lumber and lumbo-sacral spine, both AP and LATERAL view. 2. MRI of spine. Depending on the reports the line of management could be decided. 1. Rest, some extension exercises and some analgesics or muscle relaxant for a mild degree change (PIVD). 2. Definitive management for a severe and symptomatic nerve compressin would be surgical decompression of the nerve root. Lastly I would suggest you to maintain the correct posture for your daily activities, and prefer not to bend forward or pick up heavy objects. Thank you.
