hi my 11 year old son, was knocked in the ribs playing soccer the knock was so hard he ended up on the ground, unable to walk, had to be carried off, this happend 3 days ago, took him to the doctor yesterday, and was told to come back in a week if it s still sore, he is in pain, i ve been giving him panadol for the pain, I m concern though, because today I noticed he did not have much of an appetite, and is complaining of nauseousness, could there be something more seriously wrong.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a contusion only. Fracture is unlikely.

As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

You can apply icepacks for faster recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
