General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Noted the history about your 2 and half year old child as well as 11 month old baby and understood the concerns. The problem is about the elder one having red itching anus.

There are many causes for such an appearance:
-This can be secondary to intestinal infection.
-Pin worm infestation affects and causes itching only in the night time and may not cause much redness.

Hence, I would advise you the following in such a situation:
-Get the stool tests done for 3 consecutive days.
-Tests of blood.
-Examination by a pediatrician or a pediatric surgeon for clinical evaluation and to come to a diagnosis so that an appropriate management can be done.

If there is an intestinal infection, then a course of an antibiotic and Metronidazole along with probiotics will solve the problems.

Keep the area clean and dry. If there is worm infestation, he will be given the proper medications as per the test reports of stool.

Take care about the foods and beverages that you are giving bot. No outside things at all. Nail pairing, washing hands every time after visiting bathroom or after coming back from playground helps further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
